Prepare With the VT DMV Driver’s Manual

Prepare for your learner’s permit, driver’s license, or renewal test with the Vermont DMV Driver’s Manual.  The Vermont Driver’s Manual is published by the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles and covers the following topics.

  • Your driving privilege – losing your license
  • Graduated license – learner permit, junior operator license
  • Fees and renewals – license, renewals
  • Safe driving – traffic lights, signs, work zone, sharing the road, interstate, crashes
  • Point system – non driver ID
  • Registration – Insuring your vehicle

The driver’s handbook is a great first step in your test prep journey but don’t forget to test your knowledge with our Vermont permit practice tests.  You can expect questions on the rules of the road and safe driving practices. Like the real exam, questions are created based on the information in the manual.  You will need to:

  • Identify traffic signs including regulatory, warning, and guide signs
  • Understand the pavement and lane markings
  • Learn to share the road with others including pedestrians, trucks, and motorcycles
